Community Gathering

The San Francisco Shambhala Meditation Center is home to a wonderfully diverse community who share a genuine connection to contemplative practice and the aspiration to realize a more wakeful, sane society. Friends and members of the Shambhala Center are welcome to attend celebrations, practice events, meetings and gatherings of special interest groups.

Community gatherings and groups help us fulfill our role as sangha, or community of practitioners, by supporting one another on our individual paths of self-discovery. All gatherings are open to the public.

Board of Directors Meetings
The Board of Directors works to fulfill the vision of the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and the Shambhala Mandala, and to serve the community of Shambhala Center members as well as the larger San Francisco community. For information about the Board's responsibilities, see the Charter and Bylaws.

For more information, contact: Noah Butter or Susan Arnesen..

Upaya Council Meetings
The Upaya Council, led by co-directors Susan Arnesen and Noah Butter, is a diverse group of practitioners dedicated to running the center efficiently and skillfully, with an emphasis on communication, organization, and the general health and well being of our community. Working with the view of how a big center operates while maintaining the initmacy of our community is a primary goal of the council.
