The San Francisco Shambhala Meditation
Center is home to a wonderfully diverse community who share a genuine connection to contemplative practice and the aspiration to
realize a more wakeful, sane society. Friends and members of the Shambhala Center are welcome to attend celebrations, practice events,
meetings and gatherings of special interest groups.
Regular Events
Community gatherings and groups help us fulfill
our role as sangha, or community of practitioners, by supporting one another on our individual paths of
self-discovery. All gatherings are open to the public.
Board of Directors Meetings
The Board of Directors works to fulfill the vision of the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and the Shambhala Mandala, and to serve the
community of Shambhala Center members as well as the larger San Francisco community. For

Upaya Council Meetings
The Upaya Council, led by co-directors Susan Arnesen and Noah
Butter, is a diverse group of practitioners dedicated to running the center efficiently and
skillfully, with an emphasis on communication, organization, and the general health and well
being of our community. Working with the view of how a big center operates while maintaining
the initmacy of our community is a primary goal of the council.
Monthly meetings start with sitting meditation at 7pm and conclude at 9pm.

Men's Group
Meets twice a month, on the first and third Mondays from 7-9pm.

Weekly Practice Nights
Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, 7:30pm - 9pm
Sunday Open House
Join us on Sunday mornings for group meditation practice, a dharma talk, and tea. Sunday Open House begins at 9am and ends at 12pm (Noon).
Free meditation instruction is offered until 10am. A short tea break follows the dharma talk.
